Esau Prater, 88, of the 100 block of R St. NE passed away Oct. 7, 2009 in Washington DC. He was born Sept. 7, 1921 to the late Eula and Melvin Prater in Piedmont, AL. Esau retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Berkley and later joined with Gethsemane Baptist Church, Washington, DC. He was predeceased by his wife, Ollie B. Prater, two daughters, Joan McFadden and Delores Faye Parker and one son, Keith Prater. He is survived by six daughters, Carolyn Edmonds, Larcell Arnett, Joann and Janice Prater, Annette Rickerd, Marion Parrish and Sharon Whitfield; one son, David L. Prater; and a host of other relatives and friends.
