Hank Sawyer Today I rejoice because another one of my high school coaches / mentor is gone on to be with the Lord. He taught me so much about track and how to coach all 17 events. He was a wonderful man of God and he spreaded the word and discipline in season and out of season. Thanks Coach, Hank Sawyer

Shirley Whitaker To the Harvin Family: My sincere sympathy is extended to the Garvin Family in the loss of Rev. Percy Harvin. He was a good, honest God-fearing person. He was a good husband and family man. He loved his former students and athletes at Booker T. Washington as if they were his own family. I met Rev. Harvin when I first began working in Athletics at Norfolk State through Bill Archie and Dick Price. He was a good coach and athletic director and being so resulted in a good, long and rewarding relationship between the two schools. We will miss him, but God needed him more.

Harvin was my mentor, from my hometown in Chesapeake, VA as I entered St. Augustine's College(University) as a freshman. My college roommate, the late Karen Ann Carrington{Nassau] an I were the official on-campus babysitters for the Harvin clan during that era. We were accepted into the fold with open arms. He was a true friend to my family. He will be missed. Although I will miss him , his legacy of kindness will never be forgotten.
