Cornell Jackson went peacefully home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2018 at Chesapeake General Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded with the love of family and friends each day until he passed. Cornell was born December 22, 1953 in Norfolk, VA. He was the youngest of five children raised by very loving parents, Cora and Benjamin Gray. During his youth and high school years he excelled at sports and was loved by many. In 1975, he went into the United States Army where he honorably served for three years. Later he delved further into his passion for cooking. Whether it was Applebees, Golden Coral, or one of the many others, the food was made with love. He loved through his cooking at home as well. He would make meals for family, friends, and neighbors. He was married to Debra Reid and from that union they had Cornell Jr. Later he married Essie Mae Twine. They divorced after 18 years. Cornell appreciated good music especially oldies, cooking, movies, spending time outdoors enjoying the fresh air or the company of friends or family, and an overall love for life. He also loved to convene with the Lord. He believed in devoting time to worship through music, reading the word, prayer, and attending church. His humor, heart, and ability to make others feel loved will live in our hearts forever. He was predeceased by his mother Cora Gray, father Benjamin Gray, brother Alfred Jackson Jr., sister Shelia Artis, nephew Alfred Jackson III, and niece Anita Freeman. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters Yolanda Langston (Crafton) and Valarie Hill (Melvin), one daughter Jasma Riddick, three sons Jamison Strobridge, Cornell Reid (Carmen), and Jeremiah Bond, three stepdaughters Felicia Brown, Tracey Twine, and Dorene Barco, three stepsons George Twine, Maurice Twine, and James Twine, and four children he loved as his own Keisha Riddick, Charles Riddick, Kelvin Riddick (Raquel), Frankie Riddick, and a special friend, Denise Brown, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Linda My deepest Sympathy goes out to the family, losing a love one in death is a very trying time. Please find comfort in knowing what the bible says about the opportunity of seeing our dear love ones again under the very best conditions @ Isaiah 25:8 . Please also go to JW.org for more encouragement from God's word for our dear love ones .
