On Nov. 20, 2017 God called home our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Allene Grace Credle was born October 11, 1934 in Columbia, North Carolina. She was the second oldest of seven children born to the late Cardell and Pauline Spencer of Columbia, North Carolina. Allene was a graduate of Tyrrell High School of Columbia, North Carolina. At age 18, she moved to New York City for a taste of the bright lights. She began her working life there as a live in nanny. She later relocated to Norfolk, Virginia where she worked for over 20 years at Sheller and Globe before becoming disabled. Allene was a loving wife and mother who loved her family dearly. She loved reading, playing bingo, playing cards and fishing. She was well known for her awesome pies and enjoyed baking other desserts for the holidays. Her specialties were coconut pies and carrot cakes. Allene was married for 60 years to Donald Credle of Norfolk, Virginia and leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband and three children: Mark Credle of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Leandra Annette Credle of Norfolk, Virginia and Zondra Williams of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Three grandchildren: Sydnee Williams of Chesapeake, Virginia, Markell Credle of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Shana Williams of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She also leaves a brother Clinton Spencer of Queens, New York, a nephew/brother Isaiah Spencer (Ike) of Norfolk, Virginia, three sisters: Irene Belcher of Norfolk, Virginia, Mary Shaw of Brooklyn, New York and Mamie Credle of Norfolk, Virginia as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Allene was preceded in death by four brothers: Cardell Spencer Jr, Isaiah Spencer, Albert Spencer and Marvin Spencer and three sisters: Fannie Rivers, Cleo Bryant and Beatrice Boyce. Allene Grace Credle was blessed with a happy life filled with lots of love. She will be missed greatly.
