Della Dorothy Mae Coleman passed away on April 28, 2017 at her home with her family at her side at the age of 76. Della is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Leatrice Gregory. She attended John T. West and Booker T. Washington High School. She was an advocate of the Human Social Services as well as a wonderful player of Tennis in which she played mixed doubles with the young Arthur Ashe which she won many trophies. She was from Barraud Park and moved her family to Tidewater Park when they were still young. Della is survived by all 12 of her children which are; Tenesia Johnson, Vanessa Sayles, Gloria (Greg) Ford, Adrian Whitley, Thomas Coleman, William Coleman, Denise (Nathaniel) McFarland, Felix (Kim) Coleman, Antonia Dickens, Omar Coleman, Sophia Coleman and Scott (Robin) Coleman; 41 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. She had two very special friends, Norman Bowman and Beulah Combs for over 60 years.

Lisa I am so sorry for your loss, I pray that the love of God who has no limits enfolds you in this time of grief. Praying and thinking of you. Ms. Della was "very good" to my grandmother Elsie Newell she would see about her daily and when my daughter Tatyana would come there (Va) for the summer she would joke with my baby (lol) and when I would visit, Ms. Della would stop by.... we going to miss her and her friendship and the love she had for my grandmother. LaTesha Childress Ms. Della will be missed very much by friends and family that love her so much. I can remember her living next door to my grandmother Dorothy (MISS HONEY) and my family and hers having cookouts in he backyard with music just having lots of fun she called me teeda-toda. I love you Ms. Della Latesha miss honey granddaughter.
