Carolyn P. Purvis, lady of dignity, grace and compassion ended her earthly journey on April 19, 2017. Carolyn was born in Norfolk, VA to Deloris and Joseph Parham on January 10, 1956. She was born to a large family; six sisters and two brothers. She was a graduate of Norview High School in 1974. She lived a life full of laughs, joy and perseverance; she was a proud employee of Family Dollar, and was often described as a people person. Carolyn treasured simplicity and cherished conversation. Her laid-back, bubbly personality made her easy and fun to talk to, while her kind heart made it worth every-one’s while. When she wasn’t joking or spreading smiles at work, you would often find her fellowshipping with family, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, or shopping with her long-life friend, Melvette. There wasn’t anything Carolyn wouldn’t do for here family, especially her daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Freddy. Stephanie remains her pride and joy and Freddy, the love of her life and partner for thirty-seven faithful years. She lived an optimistic and purposeful life, as she was always willing to help whoever was in need. Even amongst Carolyn’s own struggles, her morals and character never faltered. Carolyn’s heart of gold will continue to live on in Stephanie; in addition to her memories in our minds. Carolyn is predeceased by her sister, Josephine Johnson and brother, Joseph W. Parham, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory; husband, Freddy L. Purvis; daughter, Stephanie D. Purvis; sisters, Be’Ja’i Odom, Barbara Shell, Gwendolyn Davis (Jefferey) and Mildred Alexander (Bill) and brother, Royal Parham (Tonda); nineteen nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Edmonds Family We send you our deepest sympathy. Words cannot console when we have loss someone we love in death. The Bible provides the finest basis for encouragement. It is one of the ways that God comforts those who mourn, according to Psalms 94:19. At Psalms 55:22, God is inviting us to lean on Him. We are never alone, even in all our distresses. This is a very comforting thought. I hope this message brings comfort to you and your family.

Linda To the Family. Losing a love one in death is a trying time for all. I just want to give the family some comfort and hope from God's word, which gives the assurance that one day we will see our dear love ones again. ACTS 24:15 And I have a hope toward God, which hope these(men) themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteuos and the unrighteous. Certainly while we await for these wonderful promise, I hope the family truly find comfort knowing this wonderful hope from Gods word.
