Diane Teresa Walton-Davis, age 61, of Newport News Virginia passed away on October 10th, 2017. Diane Teresa Walton-Davis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 7th, 1956 to Richard Walton and Wilma Peel-Walton. Diane attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After moving to Brooklyn, she continued her education at Pacific High School in Brooklyn, New York, where she received her high school diploma. In 1980, Diane attended New York University, where she earned credits towards an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. Diane’s passion was working with children and disenfranchised youth. Her first job was working for an Early Childhood Development Center in Starret City, Brooklyn. From that moment on, she knew that working with children would bring her gratification. Later, she worked for Children’s House, Inc., in Long Island, NY where she counseled young make adults, juvenile offenders on the wrong path of life. She was so revered that she eventually fell under the “protection” of the older young men that she counseled. They made it clear that “Ms. Diane is under our protection” and if anyone disrespected her they would have to answer to them. Diane’s most extensive work with children came during her employment with NYC Board of Education Public Schools for a community based organization. While working in the schools, principals relied on her to reach out to students to improve their school attendance and intervene and identify issues that hindered their learning. Diane was so dedicated that she would often take it upon herself to spend extra time on weekends mentoring children that she thought needed special attention. She would take them to a movie or even to a salon just to show them that they were special and that they mattered to her. One of Diane’s greatest assets was her smile and loving gentle spirit. They could disarm a person because you knew that she only wanted the best for you. Diane enjoyed bowling, drawing and traveling the world. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. Diane is survived by her husband Calvin Davis; son Terrence Trafton; granddaughter Tatiana Trafton; brothers Larry Walton (Anita), Kenneth Walton (Bonita), Anthony Walton (Christy), Bernard Walton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and close friends.

The Edmonds Family We send you our deepest sympathy. Words cannot console when we have lost someone we love in death. The Bible brings us much comfort. Revelation 21:3, 4, states that God will do away with all causes we have for suffering, as well as sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted us and it is our hope that these thoughts will comfort you and your family as well.
