James “Andy” Lovick 78 passed away March 17, 2014 after long battle with diabetes. Born September 15, 1935 in Scranton, North Carolina, he was the oldest son of nine children born to the late Nathan and Mary Lovick. He graduated from Scranton High School and moved to Norfolk, Virginia were he married Vivian A. Johnson, April 27, 1959. Mr.“Andy” graduated from Barber College in 1960; shortly thereafter open Andy's Barber Shop. The barber shop started in the Lambert’s Point section of Norfolk, Virginia where he grew his business for 40 years. He mentored several young men in the trade of barbering. He transferred from Lambert's Points 38th Street to Colley Village Shopping Center where the shop still stands and operates today. Mr. Andy owned many Barber and Beauty Shop in the Virginia Area. He retired from barbering in 2004 from standing behind the chair but never from the business. Mr. Andy was the patriarch of the family and served with the Masonic Lodge for many years. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends and rarely missed an opportunity to give his candid opinion. He will be somberly missed for his steadfast will, endless support of family and determination to afford those who surrounded him with the best that life had to offer. Mr. Andy was predeceased by his brother Nathan Lovick. Those left to cherish his memory wife Vivian A. Lovick, son Earnest Johnson of Norfolk, VA; daughter Diane Whitfield (Randolth Whitfield); grandchildren Serina Wiggins, Regina Grimes (Travis Grimes), Earnest Kumasi Johnson (Tonya Johnson), Earnest K. Brown (Michelle Brown), Kerry Whitfield and Calvin Whitfield; brother-in-law Joe Johnson, Jr. (Linda); brother Calvin Lovick of LA, CA; sister Martha Mackey and Dollie Somers of NJ; Edna Chance of NJ; Lucy Covil (Charles Covil)of NC; Zenbia Lovick, NJ and Edith Lynn (Will Lynn) of GA and a host of nieces, nephews and numbers of great grand and great great grandchildren.

Lisa I will not try to say something to take away your pain because I can't. I will share with you Revelation 21:4 were it says God will do away with death in the near future forever. That's a sure hope because God can not lie. I hope this brings you some comfort. Sincerely
