On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, the angel of mercy silently and peacefully came into our midst and gave our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend eternal rest. Floria Sarette Lassiter, born March 23, 1958, was the youngest daughter of the late Samuel, Sr. and Ruth Harding. She was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System and retired from the City of Norfolk in 2018 after 37 years of faithful service. She was blessed to be with her true love and best friend, James E. Lassiter, Jr. for over thirtyeight years. Their devotion and commitment was a living testimony of their love for each other. To this union, one son was born, James Lassiter, III, also known as “Jay”. Sarette was exceptionally gifted and creative with a passion for planning and coordinating, as well as for designing original craft creations for parties, weddings, baby showers and other events. She was a beautiful spirit with a lovely personality and had a smile that would light up a room. She loved to entertain and was the life of every family gathering because she was a constant source of laughter, joy and fun. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, James Lassiter, Jr.; son James, III (Cheriel) of Chesapeake and her granddaughters Amerie and Sky; five brothers, Bernard Driver (Dale) of Mississippi, Samuel Harding, Jr. (Denise) of Portsmouth, Frederick Harding (Miranda) of Suffolk, Wayne Harding (Clarissa) of Maryland, Kevin Harding (Donna) of Maryland; four sisters, Salena Hudson (Moses) of Chesapeake, Bessie Clemons of Portsmouth, Zenola Harding of Portsmouth, Deborah Smith-Watson (Alec) of Chesapeake; father-in-law, James Lassiter, Sr. and mother-in-law, the late Frances Lassiter; sisters-in-law, Sandra (deceased), and Donna McClain; four brothers-in-law, Sheldon (Annette) of Chesapeake, Terry (Sharon), Dwayne, Darren (Jean), all of Norfolk, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
