On October 24, 2017, Lila Elizabeth Robinson McDaniel, was called home to rest. Lila was born in Macon, NC on January 14, 1940 to the late Brown and Mary Robinson. Lila relocated with her parents and older brother to Virginia in 1946. She attended Portsmouth Public Schools, graduating from I.C. Norcom High School in 1958. She would later earn a business degree at Kees Business college in 1973. Lila is a member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Portsmouth. Throughout the years, she continued to fellowship even when she was no longer able to attend. Lila loved music when she was younger, throughout her years as a teenager she would often go to the neighborhood dance hall. She also enjoyed riding her bicycle and was often seen riding through the streets of Truxton with her younger brother. She would later meet the love of her life and the father of her children, the late Albania β€œRed” McDaniel. Life challenges plagued Lila more often than not and recent health issues effected the quality of life for Lila. In the later years, she spent most days watching the Daystar channel to bring her a spiritual uplifting. Fortunately, towards the end of her life, she was able to experience a sense of normalcy residing at Autumn Care Nursing Home. All though she was there for a short amount of time, she successfully managed to regain a love for people and reignite a pleasant sense of humor. She was loved by so many there and will be missed. Today, we mourn the lost of a mother, sister, grandmother, cousin, and friend. At the same time, we celebrate the very essence of her being with us. She was a precious jewel. She was our special gem and we thank God for her. Without her, we would not be the persons we are today. Lila is predeceased by older brother, Wilbert C. Robinson (Esther). She is survived by loving brother, Forice Robinson Sr. (Carolyn) and four children, Kevin McDaniel(Regina), Angela Parker, Kim McDaniel (Yvonne) and Gina Davis (Trent). Lila is blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. We love you and will miss you greatly!
