On the evening of Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Riverside Medical Hospital, Newport News, VA, Eddie Scarbough, peacefully and quietly slipped into eternal rest with his Lord. He was attended by his devoted daughters, immediate family and friends. Eddie was born on July 25, 1957 in Portsmouth. His parents were the late Willie and Geneva Scarbough. He grew up in Douglas Park and attended Portsmouth Public Schools. Eddie enlisted in the United States Navy, served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home from his military duty, Eddie worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a pipe fitter. He retired with over thirty years of service. His health, later required that he be declared a one hundred percent Disabled Veteran. Eddie was generous with his time and love, especially when it came to his family. He loved his children and grandchildren, always cheering them on and encouraging them on life’s journey. Eddie enjoyed cooking and watching his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed going to baseball games. Eddie loved hanging out in his childhood neighborhood with all of his friends.
