Frank Dancy, affectionately known as Uncle Frankie, answered the call of His Heavenly Father on July 28, 2017. He triumphed over this life when he arrived at Heaven’s gates where every day is Sunday and the roses never fade. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Mary Ann Dancy. Frankie was born on February 18, 1952 in Portsmouth Virginia. He attended Portsmouth Public Schools and was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School. Frankie started out as a young man working for Newport News Shipyard as a welder and pipe fitter. Through his work with the Shipyard he was able to travel to many different places and see the world. One of his favorite places to work was in Hawaii. Frankie will forever be remembered by his coworkers as the outgoing, funny, no nonsense, good advice giving hard worker that he was. He was fortunate enough to retired from Newport News Shipyard after 45 years of dedicated service. He attended The First Church of Deliverance II. Frank was a family man who held his loved ones in high esteem. He was known to be the Grill Master of family events, running the grill, frying the fish, and even frying the family’s holiday turkeys. Frankie is predeceased by his loving wife Rowena Dancy, whom he had the pleasure of being married to for 44 years. Frankie is also predeceased by his brothers, Benjamin Dancy Jr, Thomas Dancy, and Melvin Dancy; and his sister, Velma R. Dancy. Frankie leaves to honor his memory and legacy of family two brothers, Lathan “Slim” (June) Dancy of Norfolk, VA, and James “Scacey” (Latonia) Dancy of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters Mary (Feral) McCall and Cathleen “Cat” (Robert) Williams, all of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of nieces, nephew, family members, friends, and special loved ones.

Gregory Mabry Frank we will see you again. I have wonderful memories of you and Rowena back when Melvin "Wine" Dancy was alive and the love that you both always showed my brother, Tim, my mother Joyce and me. Peace Frankie D
