Mary Lee Olds, 83, known affectionately as “Mae” went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at her residence in Chesapeake, Virginia. Mary was born on July 15, 1934 in Chesapeake, Virginia(formally Norfolk County) to the late Robert and Melissa Davis, of which she was the youngest of seven siblings of whom, all preceded her in death. At an early age, she accepted Christ in her life. She attended New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant, sharing her gifts through song(choir), Nurses Guild, Helping Hands, Women’s Ministry, and a Sunday School Teacher. In later years she attended Solid Rock Baptist Church under watch care. Mary early education was in the Chesapeake School System. In 1960 she graduated from Norfolk General School of Nursing from whence she embarked on glorious career, helping others. In 1952, she married Osia Olds of which they were blessed with five children. After the passing of her husband, Mary guided her family through faith, over many trials and tribulations always finding solid ground. Mary’s commitment to serve, extended outside the church and work as she volunteered after retirement with Harbour North Civic League(President), worked with Sheriff Newhart to revitalized Chesapeake Virginia(Future Leadership Programme) She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and Cherished her family. Her love for God fueled her goals in being a servant to all. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, children, Carolyn Patterson(John), Belinda Moore, Melissa Morris(Greg), Joseph Olds(Linda), and Osia Olds(Debra); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The Edmonds Family We send you our deepest sympathy. Words cannot console when we have lost someone we love in death. The Bible brings us much comfort and encouragement. I have personally found Revelation 21:3, 4, and 1 Corinthians 15:26 to be very comforting. It states that God will do away with all causes we have for suffering, as well as sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted and encouraged us and it our hope that these thoughts will brings some comfort to you and your family as well.
