Joe Willie King, Jr. (aka Killer Whale) was the middle child born to the late Mary Jones and Joe Willie King, Sr. entering this life on June 11, 1948 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was called home on July 22, 2017 to be with our Lord and Savior. Joe received his education in the Portsmouth Public Schools and was a proud graduate of I.C. Norcom High School Class of 1968. He also received a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University. Joe enjoyed cooking as he worked in various restaurants as a top chef in downtown throughout Portsmouth over the years. He also enjoyed cooking at home preparing meals for the family and cheering for the Green Bay Packers during football season. He leaves to cherish his memory a dedicated, loving, faithful wife for over 50 years, Carol whom he affectionately calls “Lucy” and she called him “Ricky”. They were blessed in this union with two sons, Joe Willie King, III and Ennis Colving King who passed away shortly after his birth. Two sister in laws, Demetra Darlington (Jerome), Miriam L. Brewer; two grandsons, Dontre’ J and Jayden E. King and one granddaughter Terena N. Martin as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates and lifelong friends, to name just a few James (Dog-que) Askew and Hurley Peebles, Jr.

Robert L. Jones For all the childhood memories that we shared at our Granny's house and in Ida Barbour, I thank you, Joe. The love between us was more like that of brothers rather than cousins. Rest in peace. Bobby
