Interment Information

Brenda Arlene Coleman Blow passed away at 5:08 am on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital due to complications from a very long and brave battle with a rare disease called Ewing’s Sarcoma. She was 60years old. Brenda Bow, affectionately called “B.B”. by many, was born on May 30, 1957 in Norfolk, VA to James (“Bill”) and Madric “Lucille” Coleman, who are both deceased. She attended the Norfolk Public Schools up to Booker T. Washington High School, but she dropped out to pursue other interests. At the time of her death, Brenda was married but separated from her second husband, Alvin Blow, Brenda and Alvin been separated for many years but remained friends to the end. Brenda is survived by three of her four children: a devoted daughter, Erica Cuffee of Norfolk; loving daughter, LaVarnia Coleman of Norfolk; and her only son, David McGinnis of Woodbridge. Brenda’s youngest child, LaQuita McGinnis preceded her in death many years ago. Brenda has a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly loved and made each one to feel like they were her special one. Brenda is also survived by her siblings: Carolyn Riddick of Ohio; James D. Coleman of Richmond; and Deborah Coleman Valentine (Nelson) of Chesterfield; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. Brenda was kind-hearted and loved her family and friends dearly. She was also a woman of strong faith. She loved God and she had a genuine affection to love and care for others in spite of her own situation. If you got the opportunity to know her, you would become her friend because she was easy to talk to and had a genuine affection to love and care for others in spite of what she was going through. She always provided a listening ear and godly advice and love to anyone in need. She did not miss many opportunities to witness to family, friends and others about God’s loving kindness. Brenda was a remarkable woman and her smile could light up a room. She had a natural gist to make you feel special and loved. She loved reading her Bible and although she missed being able to go to church, that did not stop her from calling friends and family and witnessing to them over the phone about her love for Christ and how blessed she felt by His love. Brenda’s examples of love will continue to live in forever in the hearts and minds of everyone who are blessed to know her.

Linda My deepest Sympathy goes out to the family, losing a love one in death is a very trying time. Please find comfort in knowing what the bible says about the opportunity of seeing our dear love ones again under the very best conditions @ Isaiah 25:8 . Please also go to for more encouragement from God's word for our dear love ones .
