On January 7, 2018, Sallie B Hicks, affectionally known to her family and friends as Blanche entered into eternal peace. Blanche was born June 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Eva and Manriah Jones, Sr. in Hamilton, North Carolina. She attended public school in North Carolina and later met and married Walter Hicks. She spent most of her adult life in Portsmouth, Virginia. Blanche enjoyed doing hair, cooking and dancing. Blanche and Walter were blessed with seven children. Blanche retired as a housekeeper and after retirement she found solace in spending time with family and friends. Blanche was a free spirited soul who loved and laughed and joke. She will be remembered for her larger than life warm smile. She was preceded be her parents, Eva and Manriah Jones, Sr.; husband, Walter Hicks; daughter, Mary Ann Sumpter and a sister Mary Campbell. Her precious memories will forever live on in the hearts of her daughter, Kim Jackson (Rodney) of Suffolk, VA; sons, Reginald Hicks (Petra) of Florida; Warren Hicks of Bronx, NY; Ronald Hicks, Tony Hicks and Bruce Hicks (Sylvia) of Portsmouth, VA; brother Maniah C. Jones of Landover, MD; and two sisters Dessie Saunders and Nannie Brown of Portsmouth, VA. She leaves behind 12 beautiful grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and 7 greatgreat-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Blanche will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but has risen to greater glory with the Father in Heaven.
