Benjamin Harps, affectionately known as "Junior" departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Kempsville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born on May 4, 1935 to the late Benjamin Harps Sr. and Lucille Johnson Harps. Benjamin attended the public schools of Marion County, South Carolina. He worked at the Smith Meat Packing Company and later retired from E.V. Williams, Inc. Benjamin loved music, taking pictures, traveling the roads less traveled picking-up items along the way, and drinking coffee and politicking with his buddies at the Hardees restaurant where he was known to collect hand fulls of sweet & low for his personal stash. He is proceeded in death by his wife Mary; five sisters: Gertie "BeBe" (Walter) Smalls, Maude Ester (Howard) Williams, Telatha (Henry) Gerald, Fannie Harps, and Ruby Harps Bethea; two brothers: Jerome (Mary) Harps and Albert Lee Harps; and a brother-in-law Roosevelt Paul Sr. Those left with loving memories of Benjamin Harps ~ one daughter, Sharon Ann Banks of Upper Marlboro, MD, son ~ Byron (Frankie) Harps of Wichita Falls, TX, one sister~ Lucille Harps Paul of Oxon Hill, MD; two grandchildren~Monique Harps and Byron Harps II; two great grandchildren ~Jasmyn Harps and Janelle Harps, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Linda My deepest Sympathy goes out to the family, losing a love one in death is a very trying time. Please find comfort in knowing what the bible says about the opportunity of seeing our dear love ones again @ Act 24:15 under the very best conditions @ Revelation 21:3 & 4. Charlene Andrews Though I was saddened to hear of Mr. Ben's passing I rejoice in knowing he lived a full life!! He left plenty words of wisdom to live by & that's something that will be cherished forever! Mr. Ben rest peacefully & take plenty of pictures!!
