Herbert Marcell Davis, was born to the late Mary Etta Davis and Herbert Alexander on October 27, 1955 in Norfolk, VA. On December 24th, 2017, the Lord called our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle home to rest. Marcell “Poochie” a product of the Norfolk Public School System went into the Job Corp to pursue a skilled trade, he served 4 years in the U. S. Army as a radioman. He found his passion for cooking and serving others in the Merchant Seaman as a Chief Steward for over 30 years. Herb was a true man of God that loved his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and church family. Herb served on the Hospitality Committee and Usher Board for many years. At Grace Bible Church in St. Louis, MO. Where he was a faithful member until he relocated to Hertford, NC in November, 2015. Herb was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Davis and Father, Herbert Alexander, three brothers; Douglas Richardson, Michael Davies, and James Black. Three sisters; Barbara Richardson, Lorraine Johnson, and Patricia Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Elizabeth Davis; three daughters, Shajuane McDonald (Tony) of Norfolk, VA, Sharntoya Davis of Norfolk, VA and Shanetra Davis of Norfolk, VA. Four sons, Herbert Davis II of Norfolk, VA, Keno Powell of St. Louis, MO, Solomon Johnson from Norfolk, VA and Jorcell Davis of St. Louis, MO Three sisters, Willie Mae Richardson, Rebecca Gill, Patsy Outlaw of Norfolk, VA and one brother, Gary Alexander of Norfolk, VA. He also leaves to his memories nineteen grandkids and seven great grandkids. “Poochie” loved to tell jokes and touched many of us with his infectious laugh, he also loved to eat crabs, listen to jazz (Robert Cray), but most of all he loved his family. Poochie would travel daily from NC to VA to see his family and spend time with them because that is what brought him joy.

Nicole Sending heartfelt condolences to your family. Losing a loved one is heartbreaking. Our Heavenly Father heals the broken-hearted, Psalm 34:18. The time will soon come when God will wipe away your tears and swallow up death forever, Isaiah 25:8.
