Isidoro Amaya passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home on October 26, 2017. He was the oldest son of 12 children, born on December 14, 1948 in Masca Omoa Cortes, Honduras to the late Santos Amaya and Gregoria Moreira Amaya. Nick-named “Rey” by his grandmother, Mama Vica, Isidoro was truly the King of the family. Rey moved from Honduras to New York in 1972. Three years later he married the love of his life, Rosa Anita Centeno. They had 4 beautiful and loving children together. He taught his children the value of God, family, education, and hard work. Rey enjoyed playing soccer, taking pictures, and carpentry. He played the trumpet for the band Los Satelites Del Vario De Honduras and boy did he love to dance. In addition to always being the first on the dance floor at any party, he was always the most well dressed man in the room. Rey’s hat collection is one to be marveled. He worked for the Department of Defense as a Merchant Marine and after 26 years of service, he retired in 2013. Rey took pride in the work he did as a chief cook and was always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom to everyone he encountered. After retirement, Rey spent his time enjoying his grandchildren and building his dream home in Masca, Honduras. Rey will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 41 years, Rosa, and his children, Roxanna, Karla (Larry), Reynaldo, and Elizabeth. Rey will also be fondly remembered by his four grand-children, Tianna-Sanai, Isabella, Masen, and Gabriella. His sisters, Benita, Honoria, Virginia (Roberto), Angela, Jeronima, Felicita (Elisandro), and his brothers Proferio and Catarino, sisters-in-law Leonarda and Maria (Fabian), brothers in-law Antonio and Hendry (Sandra), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, god-sisters and god-brothers, in-laws, and friends. Rey touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. The family is deeply saddened by his passing. With God’s blessing they will continue his legacy of devotion to God and family.

Vida Sorry to hear about your Father. I pray God will continue to strengthen you and family and may his memories be everlasting in your heart and mind.
