Roxey Carl Johnson, “Boo” was born in Norfolk County, now Chesapeake, Virginia, on July 1, 1943 to Ella Mae Dozier Simon and the late William Johnson. On Thursday, February 22, 2018, God called Roxey from labor to reward, peacefully with his devoted wife by his side. Roxey received his early education from Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. He later joined and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Roxey was especially known for his great taste in clothes. He always “dressed to impress”, wearing sharp suits, stylish hats, socks and shoes to match. In addition to this, he also had a great passion for shopping for cars and furniture. Roxey put God first in his life and honored him by expressing love, kindness and encouragement to all that he encountered, especially the families he served at Metropolitan Funeral Service. Roxey was predeceased by his brother, Charles Donald Johnson, and son, Roxey Lamar Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, Gracie “T” Johnson; sons, Kenny Hinton (Paula) of Norfolk, Virginia, Chenyon Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina and Bobby Halsey of Portsmouth, Virginia; daughters, Tonya Dozier (Darryl), Karen Savage (Jeff) and Kendra Flowers all of Chesapeake, Virginia; sister, Gladys Hurdle of Chesapeake, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Curley Banks, Doris Obie (Thomas), Clarice Halsey all of Portsmouth, Virginia, Shirley Tyner of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Anna Williams (Joe) of Austin, Texas; brothers-in-law, Alston Mickie (Maxine) of Belgium and Curtis Carter (Rose) of Portsmouth, Virginia; God-children, Natasha Small (Andre) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Maria Coole (John) of Martinsville, Virginia; bonus daughter, Donna B. Alexander (Kenny) of Norfolk, Virginia and bonus sister, Pamela L. Southall of Chesapeake, Virginia. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Metropolitan Funeral Service Family. Roxey fought the good fight, He finished his course, and he Kept the faith.

Linda My deepest Sympathy goes out to the family, losing a love one in death is a very trying time. Please find comfort in knowing what the bible says about the opportunity of seeing our dear love ones again under the very best conditions @ Isaiah 25:8 .
