Robena Eleanor Holley-Mangum, 69, of Virginia Beach, laid to rest on July 10, 2017 at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital after a long illness surrounded by her adoring family and friends. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was the second daughter of Emmitt and Lillie Pearl Holley. She was married to her lovely husband, Warren Harding Mangum, Sr., of Virginia Beach, VA, for over 14 years. She was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools, at Norfolk State University, later attended the Mansfield School of business in Virginia Beach, VA, and Norfolk Redevelopment Housing Authority Construction College. Robena was employed by Pender and Coward Law firm for over twenty years as a paralegal secretary until she retired. An avid reader, life-long learner, and magnificent mentor to all, she furthered her education by taking numerous legal, business, and professional related courses. She was always a high energy person who loved helping and advising others. A consummate professional who was respected and admired in the community, she was involved in many service organizations throughout the city of Norfolk, such as: Norfolk City Parks and Recreation, Norfolk Department of Public Health, Oakmont Athletic Association, Azalea Athletic Association, Vice President of ADIVEA Productions, International Black Women’s Congress. She leaves to cherish her memory, in addition to her devoted husband, her three caring and loving sons; David Devon Sparrow, Owner of Honey Do Property Management and Home Repair of Norfolk Va , Anthony Darnell Sparrow, Information Technology Analyst for city of Portsmouth and wife (Joy) of Norfolk Va, Lieutenant Colonel William Edward Arthur Sparrow, III, retired Owner of Acquisition and Technology Solutions Group and wife (Messheila) of Hanover Md; grandchildren; William E.A Sparrow, IV, Olivia N. Sparrow, Nicole A. Jernigan, Lamar Gilchrist, Arkia Brown, Imani Steven, Jelani Sparrow, Malik Sparrow, and great grandchildren; I’Zayah Jernigan, Kamile Gilchrist, Kylah Gilchrist. Robena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt , cousin, and friend. She wanted people to remember that education was important to her and that she was a mentor and visionary for the young and old. She was a member of Mason Memorial Church in Norfolk, Va.

Sharon DeRamus-Epps Just found out about Robena’s Home Going and my heart is sadden. My heart is even more sadden that I can’t be there with the family, today, as I feel a part of. I love Robena very much! To the Grandchildren, you hold the legacy that your grandmother has now entrusted and spiritually transformed to you. All that she was, and what she aspired to be; was a platform for your Fathers and you-- to be the very best that you can be! I know your Grandmother would want you to be Happy, Honor your Heritage and Parents, be consciously Educated, Respectful, have faith in God and love, as her ancestors’ encouraged her. So weep Grandchildren, out of respect for the passing of a Great Matriarch; who will always be with you in spirit. And for every tear that is shed-- your Grandmother would want you to wipe away any fears and challenges of defeat, in Life! I will desperately miss her also! Love you all, Sharon DeRamus-Epps

John R. Hairston To my beloved Brother Askia. My heart hurts from the love your mom showed even those outside of her own. I pray God's everlasting love in heaven upon her soul. Rejoice in this transition for it is a great thing not a sad thing in him. Love you all Juice

Marlon Riobinson Words can't express the way I feel right. My condolences to the entire Sparrow family. To William, Anthony, David. Your mom would want y'all to continue to be strong black men and stick to your family values. With that said, God took an angel home to be with him.The educator she was she continues until this to encourage all to stand strong and be the best you can be. She will be truly miss.
