James T. “Jimmy” Reid Sr., 91 departed this life on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of Hertford, NC. He was the son of William C. and Reather Reid. He was predeceased by his wife Daisy; sons, James Jr, David and Clarence Reid; daughters, Mary (sis) Forman and Donna Reid. Affectionately known by many as “Jimmy Reid” He was an outstanding athlete and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, VA. He was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Norfolk Recreation Maintenance Bureau in 1975. He was a lifelong faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he taught the Webster Bible class and served as a faithful Deacon until his failed. His community involvements include his memberships in numerous organizations and several board appointments. Jimmy served in the mission field with the Lott Cary Laymen League and is a member of African American Sports Hall of Fame. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Shirleen Thomas and Rhonda Reid; sons, Milton (Dianne), Jerome (Loretta), Tyrone and Daryl Reid and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Betty Wiggins To the Reid Family,, My condolences to you all. Mr. Reid carried himself like a distinguished gentleman. Now he is in the Arms of the Lord, along with his Wife. Grieve for him, but smile when you think of him. My prayers go with you.
