Clyde Madgnes Sutton was born on October 6, 1946 to the late Alton Sutton and Mary (Blount) Sutton in Windsor, NC. In the early hours of November 29th 2017, Clyde Madgnes Sutton was granted eternal rest. Clyde accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant throughout his life. Upon graduation from Southwestern High School in 1965 he relocated to New York City where he enlisted into the United States Army in 1966. Upon returning from a tour in Vietnam, he married his high school sweetheart LaVerne Bond on July 4, 1969. Of this union two daughters were born, Christine Cecilia and Keisha Yvonne. Clyde was a faithful member of Brownsville Community Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY for over 30 years where he served as a trustee, deacon, and member of the Brotherhood of Christ. Clyde worked hard to provide a comfortable lifestyle for his family. He was honorably retired from the Army Reserves and also retired as a track foreman from Metro-North Railroad. In 2011, he and LaVerne moved to Chesapeake Virginia to be close to their kids and grandkids and made First Baptist Church South Hill their church home. Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife LaVerne, three brothers, McKinley Cherry, Joe Willie Holley, and Joseph Sutton and sister Mary Ann Sutton Cooper. He leaves to forever cherish his memory his two daughters, Christine McCrary (Cedric), and Keisha Nettles (Rufus). Eleven grandchildren, Donte’ Booker, De’Von Booker, Destinee McCrary, Jevon McCrary, Xavier McCrary, Madison McCrary, Takeira Nettles, Quaylan Nettles, Deejay Lee, Wynter Mays, and Jayceon Nettles. Three great grandchildren, SaNiyah Booker, Amodi Booker, and Leia Booker. Five siblings, Alton Sutton (Cecilia), Janie Barnett, James Sutton, William Sutton (Janice), Frederick Sutton, sister-in-law Minnie Ruth Sutton, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
