Alarisse “Risse” Williams Smith was born September 6, 1971, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Eugene and the late Iona Elizabeth Clyde Williams. She passed quietly into her heavenly Father’s arms on April 10, 2017, in Richard, Texas. She leaves to cherish countless fond memories her husband of 20 years, Derrick Smith; four sons, Aaron Revelle, Alexander Williams (wife Jasmine), Austin Smith and Derrick “Dooda” Smith; two grandsons, Zyire Bailey and Joshua Bowen; two granddaughters, Langston Jackson and Alana Bergins-Revelle; two sisters, La’Venia “Toni” Woodhouse (Gabriel) and Sonya Johnson (Steve); two brothers, Shawn Clyde and Dwight Williams; a special niece, LaRhesa Christmas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends including lifelong friends, The Pink Chinchillas (Kathy Taylor, Lillian Washington, Andrea “Princess” McGee, Chanda Giles, Yolanda Taylor, Danielle Hartfield and Jaunis Singletary). Known to her family as “Pooh” and her close friends as “Radeen” (a made up middle name since she didn’t have a middle name), Risse was raised in Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ, Norfolk, and educated in the Norfolk Public School System, graduating from Lake Taylor High School in 1989. She attended Ward’s Corner Beauty Academy and held a cosmetology license. Risse tried several times to retire from cosmetology, but her family and friends always managed to convince her to do their hair. Risse graduated from a printing program at Norfolk Vocational Technical School and used the skills she acquired there to manage print shops including those at Kinko’s, Office Max and with the Public School System in Texas. Risse owned an online travel agency, wrote several books that were sold exclusively on Amazon.com under a pen name and attended Tidewater Community College. She successfully fought uterine cancer and was determined to live life to the fullest, taking the reins and living every day purposely, not letting life just happen to her. Risse was known for her unfiltered sense of humor and honesty, her adventurous spirit that was full of curiosity, she loved to learn and experience new things, cook and bake, travel and most of all, spend time with her beloved family and friends. Risse was full of life and had a light-hearted spirit, refusing to let any of life’s trials get her down. She freely spread her optimism to others, sharing her wisdom, with and life experience. She will be missed by many. Her time here was all too short, but she made the most of every minute of it and lived life with no regrets. She touched the lives of all she met and we will forever be changed for the better because of her. The family would like to thank everyone who extended their condolences and showed acts of kindness during this time. Special thanks to Danielle Hartfield and Bernadette “Bo” Plummer.

Heather Lee Sending my love, thoughts, and prayers out to the family n friends of the beloved Risse. I met this beautiful soul back in 2006. Every time I was around her she always had a smile, always laughing, always having a good time and enjoying life. Tamyra Jones My sincerest condolences to Risse's family and friends during their time of loss. My prayers for your strength and understanding will be with you. I met Risse in 2009 and truly enjoyed sharing time and travels with her, Conan and friends. I have about 6 good friendships develope out of meeting her. I respected that when she talked to you she gave it "STRAIGHT - NO CHASER". Risse lived life her way and that was refreshing to see. She looked great in the pictures I saw of her Friday and Saturday poolside with Princess and her crew. And she always stayed "beat" looking gorgeous... Lastly, I'll say Risse was a lot to many people; but, Ultimately she was just a wonderful person. Love and Condolences to you all. Tam

Nedra Howard To the Williams and Smith family, I send my sincere condolences and prayers. Risse touched so many lives, including mine. There are places we went, and things we shared that she took with her. She will forever live in my heart. Our hearts are heavy, but when I think about the life she lived, I can smile. She was a free spirit like a butterfly. When we met, we were both caterpillars. With time, we blossomed into beauty butterflies. Since she moved away, we didn't talk all the time, but when we did talk, it was like we had talked the day before. A few weeks ago, I was making plans to surprise her with a visit in September during football season and her BD. Only God knew the plan he had for her. Risse, you are forever in my heart. I will keep our secrets until we meet again my friend.

Nikki I'm truly sorry for your loss of your loved one. May Revelation 21:4 bring comfort at this difficult time. And He(Psalm 83:18) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
