On the calm sunny afternoon of April 4th, 2017 our loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather Arthur E. At the age of 18, Arthur enlisted into the U.S. Army and later retired with honorable service. Following over 30 years of being employed at Tamik Creek Masonry as a brick mason and an entrepreneur of many trades. He was predeceased by a son Carl Smith and two sisters Marian Stephany and Betty Anne. Arthur met the woman of his dreams and was united in Holy Matrimony to Agnes M. Hines on June 6, 1971 and lived in Norfolk with their nine children for 49 years. He lives to cherish in his memories his wife Agnes M. Copeland; four sons Eugene Smith, Christopher Ellis and Arthur Copeland, Jr. (Nikki) all of Norfolk, VA; five daughters Diane Cornegay, Patrice Lewis (Bernard) of Atlanta GA; Angelia Waddell, Kimiada Copeland and Iris Harris all of Norfolk, VA; three sisters Sarah Fisher, Frances Williams and Shirley Knelling.
