Robert S. “Mac” McDonald, Jr. passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at home with family by his side. He was born August 19, 1935 to Robert Sandy McDonald, Sr. & Bessie Manley in Norfolk, Virginia. After the death of his mother, his father cared for him. Soon after his father’s demise, the tender Robert became “Junie” and was adopted and adored by James & Bessie Washington. Mac attended Norfolk Public Schools , Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. He obtained his Associates in Electronics. Later, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) then the USAF Reserves. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Prices Appliance Company, Norfolk Naval Base, and retired from Aetna Insulation Wiring Company in 2008. His hobbies included auto mechanic repair, fishing, cooking, computer gaming, and listening to jazz artists like the legendary Al Jarreau and George Benson. Mac is predeceased by his parents, Robert McDonald Sr., Bessie Manley, and James & Bessie Washington; Aunts Jessie Dean, & Naomi Boykins; daughters Towanna Coe & Robin McDonald Gwaltney and son Troy Harrison. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Mary McDonald of 40 years; one sister Grace Venable-Norfolk VA; five sons: Dr. Kenneth Harrison (Michelle)-Northern VA, Larry Perkins (Marilyn) & Stanley Perkins (Mary)-Brooklyn NY, Stacy Hodges (Bonita)-Norfolk VA, Danny Harrison-Norfolk VA, three daughters: Sylvia Smith-Norfolk VA, Teresa DeLoatch (Leslie)-Portsmouth VA, Tracy Hinton-Norfolk VA; twenty-two grandchildren including Ykechia Hinton (his favorite girl), fourteen great grandchildren including one on-the-way; and a host of other relatives & friends.

Linda To the Family. Losing a love one in death is a trying time for all. I just want to give the family some comfort and hope from God's word, which gives the assurance that one day we will see our dear love ones again. ACTS 24:15 And I have a hope toward God, which hope these(men) themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteuos and the unrighteous. Certainly while we await for these wonderful promise, I hope the family truly find comfort knowing this wonderful hope from Gods word.
