Anita S. Pass had a warm and giving heart and it reached out to everyone she met. There were so many people she knew and loved. Born on March 6, 1953 to Benjamin and Mary Francis Shorter in New Orleans Louisiana, Anita had to face life head on. As a child she lost her mother and her father. She was raised by her grandmother, Louise L. Knight and her grandfather, William R. Knight into her early teens, and then by her aunt, Julia Knight Fulford and Frank Fulford. She graduated from George Wythe High School, Richmond, Virginian in 1971. She graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in Sociology and then began a 40-year career working with Norfolk State University and The United States Navy where she worked in logistics for 30 years. She leaves behind her husband of 32 years Jerome Pass; two daughters, Teidru and Tarnesha; four sons, Jerome, Terrance, Brandon and Terry; a host of nieces and nephews, her favorite first cousins, Bernard and Caroline Hatcher; young ladies she loved like they were her own children, LaTya, Cheniora, Cassandra, Alana, Ashley, Ja’lesa, Jatya, Lomasi, and so many, many more. I would like to give a special thanks to Evangelist Lillian Richardson whom Anita considered her a mentor. We always had a special love for her and her husband, Callie and we thank them so much for the love they showed us, even when it was hard love. The names I did not mention, and there are many, please charge it to my head and not my heart if I did not mention you. Forever is an interesting word. People use it all the time without truly understanding what it means. It’s a God word of which there are many. It’s a word that mankind believes they can grasp without accepting that it’s an after passing reality. Scripture says that we will never be able to comprehend what is waiting for us in forever, yet we continue to try and describe it. We have many loved ones living in it right now, and I know that my wife is there patiently waiting for me. I like the words of Carly Simon “Anticipation is making me wait.”

Deacon Jackie & Elder Cassandra Futrell To the Pass family. Our deepest condolences to you all in the passing of Ms. Anita. She was a true woman of God that never thought it robbery to spread Gods Word and encourage all who where placed in her path. I thank God for all the prayers she prayed for me & my husband. She will be missed.

Deborah Carr My best friend, who you see as my profile picture this week, passed in hospice a week ago this Wednesday. She introduced me to my beloved James. One thing i do know, she was not afraid. She loved the Lord with all her being. Her smile would light up just talking about our Savior...her last breath caught up to be in His presence. Miss and love you girlfriend 💕😢

Linda My deepest Sympathy goes out to the family, losing a love one in death is a very trying time. Please find comfort in knowing what the bible says about the opportunity of seeing our dear love ones again under the very best conditions @ Isaiah 25:8 . Anita E. Brabson I was saddened to hear of the passing of Anita Shorter Pass. She and I were co-workers at Norfolk State University some years ago. Know that God is in the midst of all of your pain and anguish. My prayer is that God will hasten healing and solace to you and your loved ones. When grief presses it weight on your weary souls, kneel at the mercy seat and tell of your anguish, for earth has no sorrows that GOD cannot heal. Anita has transitioned to a higher form of life. Her spirit will always be with you and yours.
