On Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Concordia Care Riverpoint location in Virginia Beach, VA, our Father in Heaven called Russell from this Earth to His Eternal home. Russell Douglas Jr., age 65, was born in Plainfield, NJ on November 26, 1951. Russell resided and attended the city schools of Cranford, NJ prior to his family moving to Plainfield. He was a graduate of Plainfield High School and attended Essex Community College in Newark, NJ. He then served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. On June 12, 1976, Russell married his high school sweetheart Celes Howard and from this union of 41 years, 2 sons were born: Russell Lewis III and Jamel Irving. He was a loving husband and father and grandfather, genuine with a big heart. He was loved and known by many as “Russ”, “Doug” and “Uncle Russell” but the best name cherished was “Pop Pop” which was reserved for a “chosen” few. The family moved to Virginia Beach in 1991 where Russell worked for Clancy and Theys Construction Company for 20 years as a site foreman. As a family we became members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church now known as The Tabernacle Worship Center @ PG. Russell served as the church sexton and was active in various ministries such as Celebrate Recovery, Cancer Awareness Ministry, Men of Valor Bible Study and the Security Ministry. Russell Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Russell Douglas, Sr. and Deacon Dorothy Douglas. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved spouse, Elder Celes Douglas, two sons Russell Douglas III and Jamel Douglas; two grandchildren, Alijah Douglas, Alisha Douglas, his sister Nancy Jackson, brother in-law Irving Howard, Jr of Jacksonville, FL and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pamela Sanford Russell will be sadly missed, but joyfully remembered. Pamela Sanford

We look forward to a time when sicknesss pain and death will be a thing of the past, Revelation 21:4. Dads always hold special places in our hearts
