I Celebrate My Life! The road has been rough, God gently closed your loving eyes, and whispered “Peace Be Thine”. The many weary hours of pain and sleepless nights are passed; God loves you more than anyone, and he gave you rest at last! But remember the love we have for you will never, ever fade away. Rejoice! Derrick Lamont Alexander was born in Norfolk, VA to Selera Harris Alexander and William Henry Earl Jr on January 9, 1978 at 4:05 p.m. Now we shall Rejoice! Although his time came on Monday April 8, 2013 at 4:42 a.m., we shall continue rejoicing. His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ promoted him to glory. He was 35 years old. He has sisters (4) Selera Odom of IL, Davida Alexander-Green of TX, Lakisi Alexander and Heather Wilson of Hampton Roads. Also, he has brothers (7) Elton Harris of PA, Leander Harris of FL, Kenneth Cooper Alexander and Kevin Bobbitt of Hampton Roads, William Henry Earl III, Kenneth Earl and Christopher Earl of Hampton Roads. Derrick’s comedic manner commanded attention and you had to be amused in the end. He uplifted spirits constantly with his infectious humor and his dedication to his family and friends was insurmountable. Oh, let’s not forget about how meticulous he was about his style of dress, about the fit and feel of them; nothing but top of the line “smell good” that worked with his body chemistry only. He was always smooth-shaven and haircuts were a ritual with his favorite barber. His circle of friends remains intact to this day. Their dedication to one another is remarkably astounding and his charismatic attitude linked him with those friends for a life commitment. Oh yes! A thunderbolt he could be, but he wasn’t afraid to come back and mend those fences. Derrick attended Tidewater Community College and was pursuing a career in the medical field. He wanted to do research for Kidney Disease. The magnitude of our love cannot say enough. We love you, God bless your soul and we will miss you. The Family

Shawlonda Barnes This news just hit me this morning and if feels like someone has snatched the wind out of my lungs. All I can say is he was the GREATEST, he had the kind of laugh that forced everyone else around him to laugh. It been about 2 years since we last spoke and if I had only knew. To his parents thank you for sharing this amazing person with us and to his family know that he will be missed and never forgotten. One final note he watch two of my sons while I worked and went to college and my husband was working two jobs. If it wasn’t for him I may have never finished. JOB WELL DONE DERRICK.

Linda To the Family. Losing a love one in death is a trying time for all. I just want to give the family some comfort and hope from God's word, which gives the assurance that one day we will see our dear love ones again. ACTS 24:15 And I have a hope toward God, which hope these(men) themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteuos and the unrighteous. Certainly while we await for these wonderful promise, I hope the family truly find comfort knowing this wonderful hope from Gods word.
