Frederick Lewis Gardiner, age 75, of Warrensville Heights, Oh, later residing in Chesapeake Virginia, was born on September 1, 1941 in Cleveland Ohio. He completed his temporary residence on earth on Thursday, July 16, 2017. He held the title of faithful Husband, loving Father and proud United States Marine. Fred grew up in Cleveland, Oh and at the tender age of 18 he joined the marine corps. After challenging training in boot camp, he returned home and married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn Gardiner. They had three children together. After 25yrs of marriage, he was remarried to Susan Gardiner, gaining 3 more children in his family. Fred served in the marines for 23 yrs. As a Viet Nam veteran, he was proud to wear his uniform, even when many at home protested our servicemen. His morals and scruples were above reproach. He taught his children to always do the right thing, even when it hurts. He loved to go fishing, at any opportunity. Another favorite pastime, was playing backgammon, namely acey deucy. He’d travel from North Carolina to Virginia and back home playing his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He had a signature move whenever he lost, we all knew it and prepared for it, the infamous flipping of the board! One of his favorite sayings was “Keep your eyes on the prize!”. We thank God that he has received his prize! Fred is predeceased by father Lewis Gardiner, mother Floydia Gardiner, 1st wife Carolyn Gardiner, sisters: Gloria Fluellen, Sandra Butler, and brothers: Johnny Gardiner and Richard Gardiner. He leaves to mourn his loss and celebrate his life: wife Susan Gardiner, brother Lester Gardiner (Sandra), his children Fred L. Gardiner, Jr. (Karen), Marilyn T. Henderson (Ian), Rita C. Brown (Milton), stepchildren Carlzo Cardwell (Kathy), Tiffany Broome (Ron), Corday Cardwell. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and more loving friends and family.

Eric Brown Philippians 4:6-7  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
