Robert Daniel “Slack Daddy” Brown was born on March 3,1940; he was the second born son of the late Allen Sr. & Frances Drew Brown in Norfolk, Virginia. Robert attended Norfolk Public Schools and later served his Country as a member of the United States Army and the Military Sealift Command. Afterwhich, he worked for over 40 years as an Independent Contractor, and ran self-sufficency programs for impoverished families with the STOP Organization. On May 17, 1962 Robert married the late Annie Brown and settled into life on the 400 block of 37th street in Norfolk Virginia. Robert was a charismatic and witty man, full of energy and determination. He let nothing or no one get in the way of what he wanted in life and had no problem “telling it like it is”. Robert was a lover of travel, family and fun. He was a big kid at heart and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was even a father figure to many of the neighborhood children, taking them to games, wrestling matches and on other outings with his family. With his competitive nature, he could whoop you in any game you challenged him to and wouldn’t hestitate to talk smack while beating you. Left to carry on his legacy are his children, Aleasa Brown, Al-lain Norman, Angela Brown-Cash, and Syiisha Dale; Five Grand Daugters, April Taylor-Barnes, Arkia Brown, Al-laina Norman, Angel Norman, and Aniya Brown; and one Great Grand Son, Aaiden Norman. He also leaves behind two brothers Allen Brown Jr. (Harriet) and W. Donald Brown (Beverly) both of Norfolk, VA, many nephews and nieces and a host of other family and loved ones. Robert was a staple in the lives of his family; the many lessons, experiences, and adventures will forever be cherished, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to have known him.
