Thelma Buie, daughter of the late Granville and Mary Barnes, was born on December 31, 1941 in Tarboro, NC. Suddenly God in His mercy quietly called his daughter, Thelma from labor to reward. Thelma received her early education in Tarboro, NC. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Richard L. Buie, Jr., on August 8, 1966 and enjoyed more than 51 years of marriage. To this union they had three sons; Frankie, Alberto and Jerry. Thelma had a “green thumb” and you could see this by the garden she grew in the back yard, filled with delicious tomatoes and peppers. She was an excellent “Baker” and would often share cakes and pies with her church family and friends. As a “Military Wife” she enjoyed traveling with her husband and she helped enhance his career. During times of her husband’s deployment, Thelma took care of the family back home. In the words of her husband Richard, “Thelma served our great country as a Military Wife in support of her husband during his military career in the US Navy and US Army. In 1983, Thelma joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and served with the #2 Usher Board and helped the position of Vice Ministry Leader. Antioch remained a big part of her life and Thelma was dedicated to the #2 Usher Board. One of her favorite songs was “Jesus is alive and well”. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Granville and Mary Barnes; her sister, Hattie Pearl Buie; her brothers, William Earl, Johnnie Andrews, James Jones, Johnnie Jones and Thomas Andrews. She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her loving husband, Richard; sons, Frankie, Alberto, and Jerry (Nora); grandchildren, Erica Andrews, Naja Buie, Rayyan Buie, Hafsa Buie, and Muhammad Buie; her siblings, Geneva Perry, Samuel Marshall Jones, and Wilbur Ray Jones. She also leaves to cherish two special friends, Shirley Cabarras and Jane Cheairs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Edmonds Family We send you our deepest sympathy. Words cannot console when we have lost someone we love in death. The Bible brings us much comfort. Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:3,4 gives us promises that are very true. It states that God will do away with all causes we have for suffering, as well as death and sickness. I hope these thoughts will bring you and your family some comfort.
