On Saturday February 10, 2018 Beverly Michelle Dillard-Cooper peacefully departed her earthly vessel at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Beverly was born December 21, 1953 to the late Malcolm Lee Dillard, Sr. and Alease Bell Dillard. She was the fourth of seven children born to their union. She attended Norfolk Public Schools where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1972. Beverly received her degree in history in 1976 from Lincoln University. In 1991 she earned her Masters in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later became a Certified Public Accountant. Beverly reconnected with her childhood friend, Larry Cooper in June 1995. They were joined in holy matrimony in December 1995 after a whirlwind romance. Beverly retired after over twenty years of dedicated service in Commercial lending from Midlantic Bank. For three years she was the proprietor of Forever Joy, a Christian bookstore. Before becoming ill, Beverly loved to travel and was an avid reader of any book she could get her hands on. She had the gift of gab and loved starting conversations with new people. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is survived by her devoted husband Larry, her best friend since childhood, Clarice Smith, and a host of family and friends.

Judy Evans-Singleton My condolences to the families. Prayers!

Valerie Whitney Shock. Sadness. Surprise. These are just some of the emotions that hit me when I learned of my dear friend's passing. We met at Jacox Junior High and went all the way through high school. Along the way we took part in hunger marches, political protests and were debutantes the same year. Then it was off to college and there we were together at Lincoln University. After graduation we traveled separate roads.Even so, we were always only a phone call away. I will miss you my friend.

Debra Overton-Wharton Beverly was one of the first persons that I met upon my arrival at LIncoln University in Aug 1972. Always dormitory mates , sometimes next door neighbors. We shared fun times and many laughs. We remained friends after graduation and I looked forward to my annual Christmas cards. Recently, we had a telephone call that lasted well over an hour. So glad that I made that call. Sending prayers of comfort to the Dillard and Cooper family. Rest in Paradise my LU classmate. Debra class of 1976

Sheryl Minter-Brooks I was truly shocked and saddened to hear of the passing od Beverly. Beverly was one of my first mentors at Lincoln University. I was a wide eyed Freshman and she was a distinguished Senior who took me under her wing and helped me to navigate my first year. That Friendship lasted a lifetime!!! Upon her graduation, Beverly moved to my home state of New Jersey to begin her career with Midlantic National Bank. She lived very close to me and became an extended member of my Family in East Orange. Sadly, As years passed, we lost touch. However, I will always cherish the times we spent together. I would like to extend my heartfelt Condolences to the Dillard and Cooper Families and will keep you all in my prayers.
