Christal Monee Dillard was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 7, 1963. She is a proud and shining product of the Portsmouth Public Schools. Her greatest joy was her years as a might greyhound of I.C. Norcom High School. Always an honor student an dlover of music, she spent her free time mastering the piano, violin, flut and clarinet. She was a proud and one of the greatest drum majors at I.C. Norcom as well as a homecoming queen. Christal loved the old greyhound graduation traditions in which females graduated in maroon cap and gowns, males in gray. So outspoken in her belief she presented a soul stirring speech at a Portsmouth Board Meeting that made local newspapers with reporters calling her for additional comments. The cap and gown colors remained maroon and gray for years to follow. As a Hampton Institute (University) Pirate (1982-1986), she was an original flame dancer and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Gamma Theta Chapter (Fall '86, #47). Following graduation, she settled in Minneapolis, MN where her sons, Stephen C. Hudson, Jr. "Chris" (deceased) and Michael Hudson were born and raised. Christal enjoyed her career life immensely and thrived in corporate America with such companies as American Express, Northwest Airlines, and US Bank to name a few. Until her transition she was a dedicated and respected general manager with Delta Airlines. Christal was amazed and humbled by the outpouring of love and concern from her co-workers and friends during her illness. To cherish her legacy she leaves her son, Michael; parents, Lester and Pearle Dillard; granddaughters, Aubrey and Arielle; sister, Katina; brother, Craig; niece, Mica, and great niece, Laila "Boo-Boo"; grandmother, Pearlene J. Wilson; Goddaughter, Courtney and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Christal also leaves very special friends and confidants, Susan Schmaedeke, John Wutke, Kerwin Barrow, Sarah Simpson; "Brothers" Karl Towns and David Corey.
